Flower Street

Finally moved into the new place.  I haven’t unpacked anything aside from the essentials… so the room is far from personal and even further from cosy.  I’ll probably get down to it after exams, or, when I am procrastinating.

I really like this house.  It’s an old fashion skeleton with some new bits in it.  Unfortunately the toilet door doesn’t shut properly, so… that is a tad awkward.

K&S are really nice.  I don’t expect them to turn crazy anytime soon… and they are already a million times less whiny than my old housemate.  S is a bit shy – I’m usually the one asking questions or starting conversation.  K is very sweet and wholesome.

Anyway, plans for the next couple of days…

Tomorrow: Dupe housekey and study in lib.

Saturday: Work 11-5.  Study.

Sunday: Study.  Parents fly in.  Depending on how much I do I might have a meal with them, or it’ll have to wait till after Wednesday.

Monday: Study with Coco. Morning gym sesh maybe.

Tuesday: Last day of revision before cells.

Nothing too exciting.  Just looking forward to post exam socials!

Exam Season

I am so stressed out.

Cortisol, AKA (11β)-11,17,21-trihydroxypregn-4-ene-3,20-dione

Stress levels through the roooooof.

I’m good to move my stuff into the new place but can’t live there until the landlord gives the official word – after all the forms have been processed.  I’m guessing they won’t be done by Monday which would leave me without a home for… a week, maybe?

So I’m going to ask some friends to help me out.  I’m not a fan of troubling others and bugging them is stressing me out too.

In any case, it’s kinda fucked up that I am asking friends before family/my brother.  I already know what he would say, which is part of the reason why I don’t want to talk to him about it.

Trying to be positive though. :)

Semester Ends And the Bun Saga Begins

We have two more days of class before SWOTVAC.  Am a bit stressed out atm :(.  Have to move houses by Monday and will be doing it solo so I expect it to take 4-5 hours in total.  Working Saturday 11-5 and may make a quick appearance at a birthday party before retiring to the b-pad.

If things go to plan I’ll be moving some of the smaller things over on Sunday.

Parents are coming over in ~9 days?  Bad timing.

On to more positive things :) I have been eating and exercising right all week.  Returned the Levi’s trenchcoat for some new commuter pants!  I really like them – they’re the shade of brown that I’ve wanted for ages.  Tried on two coats – I’ll decide on Saturday. :)

I like one of the girls in vet.  Let’s call her… Bun.  She is tall.  About 4 cm shorter than me.  No, I didn’t measure her… she told me her height and I think I know mine.  But she is often in heels, and with the height of her bun, it sometimes seems like she is taller than me.  I don’t really care about height, so I’m not sure why I wrote all that… maybe as a description.  To add to the descript – big blue eyes.  Supposedly pro singer.  Sporty. Well-dressed.  Smart.  Kind-hearted.  Ridonkulusly hot.  She is a lot of fun to be around.  We have only been friends for…12 days, but I have spent the entirety of vet (10+ weeks) looking at her, wishing I had something to say.  Lol.  Ever since the animal handling course in Glenormiston.

Anyway.  Assuming I am suave I would ask her out, but, having been in her position a year ago, I know exactly how she’s feeling and the best thing I can do for her is to be a good friend / biffle for now.  I really do like her though – for the right reasons.  I’ll wait until she decides.  It took me about… 6 months to get over A.  But look at me now. I am exactly where I want to be and I feel more confident than ever before.

That’s all I wish to write for now.  Room needs a slight tidy.

Until next time!

Exams, The Eventual Relocation, and Weekend Plans

We have cleared all the small annoying quizzes, and only the 4 major exams remain.

6th June: Cells

12th June: Digestive Systems

18th June: Foundations of Animal Health

21st June: Metabolism & Excretion

I should be moving houses in 11 days!  Am waiting around uni for K to give me the lease agreement before I head home.  I’m pretty tired today – have been sleep deprived due to sickness, but more productive than usual because I have been studying with Coco.  It’s probably a combination of being with another hardworking nerd + the allure of frozen yoghurt as a study reward that’s responsible for my productivity.

Weekend plans – planning study + house moving logistics, work 9:30 – 5 tomorrow, and then RSPCA charity walk on Sunday!

Gotta go get my lease now :).

Hand Written Notes and Presidency

There is something sweet and personal about hand written messages.  :)

I have decided to run for Vet President next year.  Talked to the current President about his responsibilities and I feel like I’m capable of doing an equally good – if not – better job than him.  I don’t feel like I’ll back out and I think I have a decent shot at winning.  I really, really like the people in my year, and it would be cool to work with them on events and improvements.

Spent my morning with Coco! This friendship is on roids… without the rage.  I like her but anything more than friends would be too much and too fast.  I like how we are.  It’s easy to get distracted though – I feel distracted sitting in front of her… when I can’t see her but know she’s around.  Lolz.

Hmm… what else did I do today.  Took diuretic and peed 1.94 litres in 3 hours.  Got blood drawn… the guy told me I bleed like a horse.  I don’t know what that means, but I am rather veiny and easy to poke.  Lol.  Before he drew my blood he said “you 6c?” which I heard as “you sexy?”.  Thought about this for awhile before saying “uh, no, I’m 6e”… in reference to my group and treatment number.

Anyway, gonna tidy up the bedroom and maybe set the iMac up.  Till next time!

RF, Coco, The Flu, and FAH Friday

RF seems like a nice guy.  He wears junners which, while horrible, could be worse if he wore bootcut jeans.

Coco is awesome, I can’t stop talking to her!  It’s been a long time since I really clicked with anyone from the get-go.  It has to be said that the get-go was clipboard netball at the vet social event on Friday.  Lolz.

The flu is slowly killing me.  I have noticed that I get a block nose when I sit down, or when I’m in bed.  Cannot remember the specific mechanism / reason why the nasal cilia stop beating… :(.

FAH quiz on Friday, and the last one at that.

So okay, I’m writing like a dyslexic (dyslexics, don’t take that offensively).  What do I think about vet school so far?  It’s had its ups and downs… mostly ups.  Course material isn’t necessarily hard – there are 3 or 4 main concepts per lecture, but the fact that we get 6 lectures on certain days really makes things difficult – and if you slack you are immediately behind.

We have a urinalysis prac tomorrow and yours truly is taking the diuretic treatment.  The second year students told me that their diuretic students could not stop peeing, even through the mid-sem exam.  This worries me because my bladder is super weak and I always have to pee.  Lololol.

June marks exam season, and I hope to get one or two people together to form a little study and discussion group.  I’ve found learning and teaching a concept to someone else one of the best ways to go.  Coco is more of a ‘retype everything until I get 60+ pages of notes’ person.  Other people, like AC don’t even write notes… they just read slides and get high distinctions.  Eff.

I should be moving out in the next week and a bit.  Will have to follow up on that because last I heard K&S (housemates) were adding me to the lease.

Haven’t really resolved things with my brother.  It’s more or less blown over.  I feel like a self-aware individual – not conceited nor arrogant and bias conscious – so I will just keep doing what I think is right.  I am probably doing a saturday shift at the new job this week and then I have the RSPCA charity walk on Sunday, so I don’t think I’ll go out unless my exam planning permits.

That’s it for now!  Until the next major catastrophe or girl that sweeps me off my feet I leave you with a song…
